If you are a first timer and don’t know where to begin, its best to look at what division suits your body type and personality. There are over several different federations in Australia and the USA.
All federations have their main divisions such as:
PHYSIQUE/ BODY BUILDING: has a feminine appearance and has good symmetry/ balance with full muscle, hard condition and ripped. A lot bigger in size and muscle development then figure girls
FIGURE: is feminine with good symmetry, muscle tone and definition and graces the stage with elegance and poise.
FITNESS: is feminine with symmetry and muscle tone and this category is for the competitor with dance and gymnastics background. Competitors are required to perform a dynamic and high performance routine to show their flexibility and endurance.
SPORTS MODEL / FITNESS MODEL / BIKINI MODEL: depending on the federation you go with, competitors are to have an athletic body, beauty, sex appeal and charisma. There are three rounds to this category: Dress/ club wear, Sportswear, Bikini
There are also categories you can choose from such as:
NOVICE: Beginners to first timers
INTERMEDIATE: Previous competitions but not at open level
OPEN: Higher level competitors
MASTERS: 35 + with most federations
There are also class divisions in most federations if there are a lot of competitors:
TALL CLASS: Taller competitors combined together
SHORT CLASS: Shorter competitors combined together
All federations have their own criteria and look for something different in their competitors. It’s best to shop around (compete in a few different federations) and see which federation best suits you for your career, achievements and goals. |
